Churros

Churros

Every time I make Churros I wonder why I don’t make them more often. I keep looking for them in fun fairs and at festivals because they are so darn delicious and yet, they are so simple to make. Try it and you will see!

Time approximately 30 minutes

Churros

Ingredients 20-25 churros

Dough
5 dl water
50 g vegan margarine
3 tsp vanilla powder
4,5 dl flour
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt

Sugar coating (after deep frying)
2 dl sugar
1-2 tsp cinnamon

Oil for deep frying

Method
Boil the water together with the margarine in a saucepan. Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl. Pour the liquid into the bowl and mix to a thick, sticky dough. Let the dough rest for a few minutes and pour it into a piping bag, preferably made of fabric to avoid that the bag breaks (the dough is a bit hard to squeeze out). Heat the oil for the deep frying to about 190 degrees C. Squeeze the dough out so they become roughly 10 cm’s long “sticks” and drop them into the oil. Fry until golden (roughly 1-2 mins). Remove your Churros with a skimmer and place them on paper, then roll them in the sugar- and cinnamon mix. Fantastic served as they are, with vegan “Nutella”- or vanilla ice cream. ~
